The 2019 Pinot Noir is sourced from Dutton Ranch in the Green Valley of the Russian River Valley. Planted primarily to Clone 667, the fruit was fully destemmed, fermented with punchdowns in open-top fermenters, and aged for 10 months in roughly 35% new French oak. The wine is just beginning to edge into a secondary phase of flavour development, with dark cherry fruit melding into richer notes of tobacco and charcuterie, alongside hints of bacon fat and white truffle. Cherry and cranberry flavours remain at the core, carried by a surprisingly lush mid-palate, while black tea–like tannins and a saline complexity add nuance. The finish is long and mineral-driven, tapering into a smoky clove note.
