The 2024 vintage of Mays Canyon is absolutely lovely. The site is surrounded by redwoods bordering the Russian River, near Guerneville. It's a site that runs warmer than its coastal proximity suggests, eight miles from the Pacific. The 2024 opens with an abundance of red fruit like wild raspberry, sun-kissed strawberry, and a touch of tart cherry, mixed with dried violets and lavender. It shows richer flavours of chocolate-covered strawberry, with a savoury, fresh herb-garden edge underneath. Tannins are softer than what this vineyard usually shows. The medium-bodied wine has a plush texture without losing precision, carried by excellent acidity, with a long, layered finish. It's a wine that really shows the contrasts of 2024. Yummy wine.
