The Linda Vista Vineyard, located on the eastern edge of the Oak Knoll District, features alluvium soils of marine origin from Mt. Veeder. This Chardonnay is native yeast barrel-fermented in neutral oak and aged 9 months before bottling, undergoing partial malolactic fermentation and partial bâtonnage. The wine is beautifully pure and crystalline, showcasing impressive fruit density and a range of flavours and aromas. The racy acidity is balanced by voluptuous fruit notes of yellow apple and lime, complemented by subtle tropical nuances. The integrity of the fruit is a result of multiple picks throughout the vineyard, as noted by Steve Matthiasson, allowing for separate ageing of lots. Some components undergo malolactic fermentation while others do not, adding complexity to the final blend. The finish is remarkably long, marked by bright, wet stone minerality, fragrant spring flowers, a touch of honey, and crushed almonds.
