There's a savoury forest character and saline freshness on the Terraces, a special bottling from the higher-elevation block that sits over 2000 feet.  This bottling is produced only in special vintages, and it was last made in 2019. Braiden Albrecht makes them in leaner years. He likes to accentuate the cool year with the cool site. Lean and brisk, with chopped mint, sea salt and crushed stone. They pick the fruit with a range of brix from 18.5 to 25, but most of it comes in around 22. It’s a non-malo style of Chardonnay, aged in a majority of neutral barrels for 10-12 months, with about 5% new. They use 500L puncheons and 1000L foudre. This is about the pioneering style of Mayacamas Chardonnay, from the 1960s, it's about freshness and showing these high elevation cool conditions.
