For all the Napa Cabernet I taste, this offers a slightly reminiscent, if not refreshing, twist. It is a 95% Cabernet Sauvignon (with 5% Cabernet Franc) from Marin County, south of Sonoma and just north of San Francisco, from the dry-farmed Pacheco Ranch Vineyard in Novato. It has high-toned aromas of kirsch, blackberry, black currants, and toasty oak with mocha nuances and a lifted spicy herb note. It is full-bodied and packed with soaring tannins and more dried herbs on a lengthy mineral-rich finish and aged 22 months in 30% new French oak.
