This is, quite sadly, the final vintage of this Syrah from Philippe and Cherie Melka. Majestique is from the Paderwski Vineyard in Paso Robles, fermented in concrete and puncheons, and aged in 55% new French oak for roughly 18 months. Gorgeously perfumed with blackberry fruit, blue fruit nuances, violets, and wet slate. Power and precision meet impressive freshness and tension in this wine, which oozes dark berry fruit and lovely Indian spices. Terrific acid grip and fine-grained tannins are also mineral-infused and soar on the finish.
