Memento Mori co-owners Hayes Drumwright, Adum Craun and Adriel Lares have supplied winemaker Sam Kaplan with coveted fruit sources in Napa, including this Beckstoffer Heritage site, the Dr Crane Vineyard in St Helena, planted to Cabernet Sauvignon on gravelly loam soils. As with most of Kaplan's Napa Cabernets, it is aged 22 months in 100% new French oak. The result is an immensely robust and powerful wine packed with dusty blackberry, green olives and shredded coconut, sappy tannins and a long baking spice finish.
