Vine Hill Ranch is a top Oakville site whose vineyard partners include Harlan Estate, TOR, Colgin and Etude. Heady aromas run the gamut of Caribbean spiced fruit cake, chocolate and vanilla to savoury charcuterie and dried flowers. Deeply concentrated, the lush palate shows blackberry, blueberry and raspberry fruit with grippy but fine tannins, finishing long with roasted coffee and earth. Even at 15.3% alcohol it offers a good balance, though it is best enjoyed at cellar temperature or just below. As with most of Kaplan's Napa Cabernets, it is aged 22 months in 100% new French oak.
