I had neither heard of nor tasted this wine until it was introduced during a Napa Valley Vintners tasting in November 2025. The label is disarmingly simple, yet the wine within is quite spectacular. What first caught my attention was the modest alcohol level – just 13.6% – meaning it cannot rely on aromatic lift from glycerol richness, and yet it is beautifully expressive. Bright cherry and raspberry fruit lead, laced with pure, iron-like mineral notes reminiscent of a newly seasoned cast-iron pan, alongside perfumed rose petal nuance. Medium-bodied, the palate delivers juicy, supple fruit framed by firm, super-fine tannins. The fruit is succulent and vibrant, while a firm spine of blood orange acidity drives the structure, suggesting this is very much a wine to hold and revisit over the next couple of deCades.
