Luc Morlet’s Passionnément is a barrel selection drawn from three estate vineyards: the 9.7-hectare Cœur de Vallée in Oakville, the 2.4-hectare Morlet Estate in St Helena, and the 2.4 hectare Mon Chevalier vineyard in Knights Valley. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks and puncheons, then aged for 17 months in 85% new French oak. Unfined and unfiltered. The wine opens with lovely Oakville garrigue notes, interwoven with Knights Valley forest tones and sagebrush nuances. On the palate, it is remarkably soft, melting effortlessly across the mouth, with tannins carrying a crushed-cocoa-nib character, layered with cassis and kirsch notes. The complex finish is marked by lingering wild crushed herbs, bay laurel, and subtle tobacco notes.
