Steve Alden's Wildlands is a blend of Pinot Noir grapes from his estate Perli Vineyard Ridge Block above 518 metres, along with additions from Fashauer Vineyard just below that. It's in Alden's preferred, rich, robust style with plenty of concentration and power. Explosive aromas of violets and blueberry fruits with mocha spices and rich, toasty cedar wood leap from the glass. The wine builds on the palate with a medium-bodied generosity that builds in intensity and volume as the wine opens, becoming more full-bodied with aeration. Plump tannins support creamy black cherry fruit, spiced plums, and saline minerals, and the finish offers earthy nuances of truffle and turned earth.
