Zinfandel from Steve Alden’s estate, the Potato Patch Block at Perli Vineyards, planted at 640 metres elevation on a 30% slope in the wilderness of Southern Mendocino County. The wine is aged in French oak and co-fermented with Syrah and Viognier. It shows fantastic blue fruit, brown spice, violet, and dark chocolate notes, with nicely integrated toasty oak. A zesty blood orange and citrus character brings energy, leading to a bright, zippy acid-driven finish. There is excellent concentration, yet the wine remains light on its feet.
