From Morisoli Vineyard in Rutherford, this marks the first vintage of the wine produced under the Nickel & Nickel label. The fruit comes from two blocks of Clone 4 Cabernet: an older section planted in 1994, and a younger block planted in 2016. An alluvial fan runs through the site, which, according to winemaker Joe Harden, provides well-draining soils that lend a lifted aromatic profile. The nose is bright and fragrant, showing dusty rose and red berry fruit, supported by a fine, dusty tannic backbone. There is plenty of depth and flavour through the mid-palate, carrying the wine effortlessly across the palate. Rich and mouth-filling, it finishes with both elegance and power, marked by nuanced notes of crushed cocoa nib.
