This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Hughes Vineyard on Howell Mountain was aged 22 months in 85% new French oak and crafted by the late Denis Malbec, who worked as the enologist and cellar master for Château Latour. Such lavish aromas in this 2015 Cabernet lead with pure blackberry fruits, dusty minerals, black currants, toasted fennel seed, and dried florals. Impressively dense and concentrated while remaining light and energetic, with focused, remarkably silky Howell Mountain tannins, showing masterful viticulture and meticulous grape selection on the crush pad. Wonderfully pure, bright acidity underscores a mineral-laced, black-fruited, expressive wine with incredible freshness from Napa’s Howell Mountain region. A show-stopper now and one to enjoy for several decades.
