This super-bold, concentrated, yet refined Cabernet Sauvignon is a bottling of the best barrels from winemaker Katie Vogt's picks at Vangone Vineyard near Atlas Peak. The grapes are hand-sorted, destemmed, gravity-fed, optically sorted and fermented in large oak tanks before ageing for 19 months in brand-new, heavy-toast Taransaud barrels. Give this wine a good decanting in its youth, and swirl a good deal before leaning into its rich, inky dark berry fruit and graphite-laced bouquet. Savour the sagebrush and ripe cassis, framed by iron-fisted, velvety tannins before the saline-acid finish washes it all away with a freshness factor that is the hallmark of the 2023 vintage.
