Patland Estate Vineyards is a small, family-run Napa Valley producer founded by Henry and Olga Patland in 2007, with the next generation now involved in the business. The portfolio draws heavily on Bordeaux varieties, while this 2023 Proprietary Red also incorporates Syrah. Cabernet Sauvignon leads at 67%, supported by Malbec, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Merlot. The wine was aged for 20 months in 56% new French oak. Jonathan Cristaldi: Explosively aromatic and deeply flavourful, with a solid foundation of compact tannins. This is Napa teetering between hedonism and structure, done extremely well. Jenica Flippo: A rich blend of blue and black fruits. Concentrated, with clove and sweet cedar. Tannins are resiny and fine-grained, lingering with grace. Cara Patricia: Well structured, with herbal black fruit, resinous and sticky, like a bong hit followed by a (complimentary) shot of Chambord.
