Heritage cuttings of Magill and Kalimna vines planted at Creston 600 Ranch in Napa in 1998 marked the start of the Penfolds California story. This latest chapter includes fruit from those vines, plus other estate vineyards in Napa and Paso Robles, aged for 16 months in American barriques (45% new). The 27% Paso Robles Shiraz adds red-fruited richness and spice to the pure blackberry and bramble notes of the Cabernet Sauvignon, with the balancing drive of fresh acidity. Now on its fifth release, this generous Californian take on an Aussie blend is hitting its stride.
