This 100% Merlot comes from the cooler-growing regions of the Napa Valley, Carneros, and Oak Knoll. Aged 18 months in 64% new oak (92% French Oak and 8% American Oak). It's a full-bodied Merlot with ample extraction, revealing a dark-colored powerhouse, more in line with Cabernet Sauvignon than with the delicate fruit and spice of Merlot. It's hefty, delicious, and unctuous, with plenty of dark fruit and oak spice to satisfy the Cabernet fan or the fan of big, bold Napa reds. A subtle herbaceousness emerges, which is nice, along with toasty oak and espresso-bean nuances. There's a place for this in your life, for sure.
