Planted in 1999, Richards Vineyard sits on the eastern slopes of Annadel Ridge, in the shadow of the Mayacamas. With a short daily window of sunlight, the vines often struggle to ripen, but in 2022, the Labor Day heat provided a welcome push to full maturity. From just 2.25 acres, the wine was fermented with 100% whole clusters and aged 30 months in barrel. The result is a robust Syrah, big in body, depth, and flavour, layering dark fruit with notes of cracked pepper, smoked herbs, and cured meat. The structure is firm yet lifted, built more on persistence than weight. Production is tiny, at only 7 barrels.
