La Place Vineyard is located at the corner of Lommel Road and Silverado Trail, near the end of Larkmead Lane. Planted in 2009 to Clones 8, See, and 4, it is a Relic monopole adjacent to Hourglass Blueline Estate and near Three Palms. Of the three Relic wines I sampled for the 2023 Napa Cabernet report, this was the most complete, balanced, and expressive. It shows greater elegance and lightness compared to the Artefact and Moulds Cabernets, with pure, ripe blueberry, juicy blackberry, and fleshy cherry fruit finding their footing on the medium-bodied palate. Featherweight tannins are beautifully integrated, while nuances of sagebrush, white pepper, and unsweetened cocoa powder lend depth and energy. There’s lovely freshness here, capturing the coolness of the 2023 growing season.
