Steve and Suzie Reynolds established their family estate in Napa’s Oak Knoll district in the mid-1990s, and released their first wine in 1999. Persistence is the winery’s flagship red blend. The 2023 is led by 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot adding in layers. Aged for 22 months in 30% new French oak. Jonathan Cristaldi: An intriguing red, layering in a lovely gamey character and bright white pepper-infused herb nuances balancing out dark berry fruit, all underscored by bright, tangy blood orange acidity. Velvety tannins on a smoky, paprika-spiced finish. Jenica Flippo: Bold and intense black and red fruit, ripe and rich. There’s a wildness to this wine, a savouriness that fills out the palate and supports the fruit in a beautiful way. Cara Patricia: Ooh, I like these pyrazines. This reminds me of the best pre-1990s Napa wines I’ve had: fresh and bright, relaxed, but great tannin.
