The Napa Valley Pinot Noir is sourced from estate fruit in Carneros along with select purchased fruit, the blend comprising Swan, 667, and Pommard clones, all fermented separately and aged for 10 months in barrel (30% new) before being blended just prior to bottling after racking. This is a bold, riper style of Pinot Noir than one might find on the Sonoma Coast, but that reflects both the site and the intent, and it is absolutely delicious. Pinotphiles should not overlook it. Fresh, vibrant, and layered with dark cherry and blackberry fruit alongside spiced plum, it shows warm baking spice nuances of coriander, cardamom, and a dusting of clove. A touch of tannic grip supports a lengthy, juicy finish marked by blood orange and earthy undertones. Those brown spice notes carry the day.
