This is a barrel selection of the finest lots from the 150-acre Twin Rivers Ranch, located on the El Dorado–Amador County border at roughly 1,700 feet elevation. The rolling hillside site is planted primarily to Zinfandel, and the wine is aged for 15 months in a combination of American oak (10% new) and French oak. In 2023, the wine is sumptuous and absolutely lovely, layered with deep, dark, dense fruit and ripe, sweetly spiced notes of clove and allspice, alongside cedarwood, loamy earth, and a saline minerality that makes it especially exciting. The finish is incredibly long, with cocoa-powder tannins building and providing the framework for rich, jammy floral and spicy complexity, all balanced by a welcome thread of tension.
