The Van der Kamp Vineyard is home to old vines dating back to 1954, set nearly 2,000 feet up on the north side of Sonoma Mountain. Organically and dry-farmed, and still family owned, this site produces fruit of remarkable intensity. The volcanic soils rich in clay give the wines firm structure and an unmistakable wild mountain energy. The 2023 vintage shows dark fruit like black cherries and dried plums, with a hint of fresh herbs, anise, and a woody sweetness. The palate has a real density, framed by dusty, almost rustic tannins, yet balanced by a gentle, lifted finish.
