The 2023 Vandal Pinot Noir comes from an organically and biodynamically farmed vineyard on the Napa side of Carneros, in the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains, grown by Robert Sinskey. Made entirely from Pommard clone and fermented and aged in stainless steel, it feels like Pinot without makeup: bright red fruit, earthy, and raw in the best way. Pale ruby and almost translucent in the glass, it opens with aromas of wild raspberries, herbs, damp soil, and freshly wet grass. The palate is lean but textured, with red and tart blackberries and a subtle, savoury spice. It’s an easy wine to drink now.
