Sourced from the DN2 block at the base of the Hartwell Estate in the Stags Leap District, on Wappo Hill and positioned close to the rail on the northern side of the vineyard. Thomas Rivers Brown is particularly drawn to the bright fruit purity, refreshing natural acidity, and inherent power that define this AVA, noting a distinct lift in the wine’s character. In the glass, the 2023 WH from Schrader Cellars is mineral-rich, layered with candied red berry fruit and Asian spice notes. The palate is beautifully silky and satiny, carried by ultra-fine-grained tannins that support the buoyant black fruit and mineral drive, building towards a long, full-bodied finish.
