Pale garnet. Aromatically intense with freshly turned earth, fresh nettles, sandalwood, raspberry and sweet dark cherry. The aromas grow in intensity in the glass – give the wine a little time to stretch. In the mouth, the wine is rounded and smooth-sided as the tannins are nicely resolved already. The fruit concentration again grows in intensity on the palate, revealing dark bramble fruit flavours and a hint of camphor and incense. Light-footed from a seam of acidity, the wine is by no means lightweight, just elegant. Savoury finish, long, perfumed and subtle, not overbearing. A delicious food wine, drinking beautifully now, with the structure to hold a decade when more of the undergrowth and savoury notes will develop.
