Seven Apart is the latest project involving renowned Napa Valley winemaker Andy Erickson. Grapes for this inaugural 2018 Expedition release were sourced mostly from two sites on the rocky and rugged western edge of Atlas Peak, blended with a small amount of Oakville fruit. The profile is what one would expect given Erickson's resumé, which includes Ovid, Staglin and Harlan Estate. It's a quintessentially modern, slick and polished Napa Cabernet that spent 18 months in 80% new French oak. Deep red and black fruit aromas plus blue and purple flowers. After time in the glass, a supple tannin structure appears out of the plush, mocha-driven palate, and the wine’s mountainous origins become present. Just 60 barrels were produced.
