Made entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine comes from Silverado’s gravelly vineyard at the winery, in the cool Stags Leap District, which became an AVA in 1989. 

The 1987 vintage was one of the decade’s best for Cabernet in Napa, especially in Stags Leap. A May heatwave and low rainfall reduced the crop, resulting in small berries that gave wines with loads of richness and tannin. Despite its age, this one is still darkly coloured, round and chocolatey, but with prominent acidity and the slightly rustic character you find in many Napa Cabs of the 1980s.
