The Reserve comes from vines planted in 1997 and is made entirely from free-run juice – no pressed juice included – aged for 23 months in 100% new French oak. It also includes a 2% splash of Malbec. The wine is power-packed, showing formidable tannins, yet there’s real elegance in the richness and darkness on the palate. The tannins have a beautiful granularity, with finesse and a gentle sweetness of cassis and blackberry fruit, underscored by graphite and wonderfully refreshing acidity on the finish. There’s a striking freshness here that’s truly impressive.
