A GSM that leads with Syrah is buoyed by the inclusion of 2% Roussanne, grown in the Sierra Foothills. This wine offers tremendous balance, pitting ripe fruits and savoury depth against a brilliant acidity. Aromas of dried violets, briny black olive, and a gamy note are lifted from the glass and brightened by blackberries with mint. The palate is a happy marriage of red fruits, savoury garrigue with tangy blackberries, and hints of chicory spice. The alcohol north of 15% is well integrated and imperceptible in the wine.
