Exceptionally pure and precise, with captivating, profoundly floral aromatics. Grapes are primarily sourced from the 8.9ha estate in Rutherford, with additional fruit drawn from other parts of the valley. Vines are managed by Mike Wolf. A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, and 8% Petit Verdot, aged for 20 months in 60% new French oak. The wine is extremely dark in the glass, opening with macerated black cherry fruit and a striking array of perfumed floral aromatics – rose petal, rose stem, and dried violets–nuanced by walnut husk, scorched earth, and a dusty mineral character that is classic to both the site and the AVA. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, with more subtle herbal tones emerging beneath the fruit, supported by fine-grained, velvety tannins that build gently through the lengthy, full-bodied finish.
