TestaRossa has been making wines in the SLH since 1999, with 15 years at the Sobranes Vineyard. Ripe and fleshy, but seriously savoury and mineral driven. Dark fruits, intense garrigue, and loads of pine sap on the nose give this wine a mountain character. Bill Broussard is pushing viticulture with his vineyard partners. It pops with pomegranate, and salty red berries, taut early-season blackberries and kisses of mint leaves. This block comes from the upper blocks of Sobranes; it really shows a density of fruit and lively saline. In the cellar, Bill uses 60-70% new oak, but goes with lighter toast and longer air drying. Notes of tangerine and blood orange.
