The 2019 Debate’ ‘Ultimate’ bottling combines Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from Artalade Vineyard on Pritchard Hill, Newton Vineyard, and Denali Estate in St. Helena, with Cabernet Franc from Stagecoach and Sleeping Lady Vineyard. It is balanced, refined, and elegant, and given this unique blend of massive personalities from Napa shows the potential of refined blending from these important vineyards. Perfectly ripe and delineated blackberry, blueberry and black currant notes intermix with fragrant purple and blue florals. The same notes emerge on the palate in silken waves of flavours framed by seamless, fine-grained tannins with generous acid tension that funnels freshness through the deep, dark palate-etching fruit. Crushed stones, wild herbs, unsmoked tobacco, earth, and pops of vanilla and cacao-dusted cedarwood underscore all this lovely pure fruit. This is the kind of Napa red you’d want to rink all the time, but they only produced 600 magnums for the world. It's a complete package, showing beautiful clarity and complexity.
