The 2023 Eliza’s was crafted entirely by Tony Biagi. A gorgeous and expressive wine, it was aged for 18-20 months in 100% new French oak, with fruit sourced from the Monastery Block and neighboring sites. In this vintage, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon were co-fermented, resulting in a blend of 53% Cabernet Franc, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1% Petit Verdot. It bursts out of the glass with effusive black and red fruit character, sagebrush spice, and cedarwood notes. A dusting of white pepper coats elegant tannins, while an energized, lifted freshness carried by dark berry and blue fruit rounds out a lengthy finish marked by crushed cocoa nibs and blood orange. There is something especially bright and fresh about this vintage. This wine should age gracefully for a very long time.
