<p>After decades working at Beringer, Tor Kenward retired to found his own label, specialising in wines from celebrated vineyards. Few are more renowned than To Kalon in Oakville, partly owned by mega-grower Andy Beckstoffer. The colour of the 2006 is slightly evolved, and the nose, while a bit leathery, still shows voluptuous black fruits. Concentrated and robust, it remains dense and still tannic - perhaps too much so, as it&#39;s rather earthy and rugged, and lacks finesse but there&#39;s solid fruit on the finish.</p>
