Ripe black cherry, blackcurrant and blueberry aromas with only a very faint whiff of Syrah's more meaty and herbal side, but there is a ferrous streak. That carries through on the palate which is less indulgent and more demanding in its savoury core. Lovely stony heart to this wine, despite its perfectly ripe fruit. The higher alcohol is felt in its structure rather than its flavours and it persists on the intense finish. Not for the faint-hearted, this winter warmer demands food.
