Sabroso is a blend of many vineyard sources of the larger Monterey viticultural region. Ted Glennon delivers another delicious wine that portrays the complexity of his home turf. 2025 Sabroso is 29% Grenache from Ventana Vineyard (planted 1973, Arroyo Seco); 25% Zinfandel from two sites, Enz and Joullian (both over 45 years old, both own-rooted);  17% Cabernet Pfeffer from Enz Vineyard (own-rooted, Lime Kiln Valley AVA, San Benito); 15% Barbera from Calleri Vineyard (planted 1994, own-rooted, San Benito); 5% Sangiovese Grosso; 4% Mourvèdre (Enz clone); 2% Corvina; 2% Rondinella; 2% Corvina from Wheeler Vineyard (planted early 1980s, San Benito); and 1% Petite Sirah from Kronfli Vineyard in the Paso Robles Creston District (new planting in Huerhuero soils). Lifted, fun, and vibrant, with more depth and richness than in previous vintages. There is a woodsy elegance from whole cluster fermentation, which also brings a firm tannic grip. Darker flavours of muddled cherry and strawberry come through, and the pleasure factor is right in line with the last two vintages. This is a wine built for food and easy drinking, and at this price point, one of the most exciting chillable red blends coming out of California.
