Another 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, this bottling an own-rooted selection from the Joullian Vineyard in Carmel Valley in Monterey. I've enjoyed tasting this wine year after year for its light, bright, energetic, and incredibly vibrant, acid-driven character. There is wet slate minerality with violet nuances, rose petal, and rose stem, alongside a saline acidity on the palate that brings lift and tension to notes of orange and candied red cherry. Plenty of refreshing acidity carries the wine through a full meal and beyond. Wild herb nuances come through clearly when not crowded out by overly toasty oak, and the finish ushers in a subtle unsweetened cocoa powder note.
