The winery is a stunning regional landmark for those driving north from San Francisco, and the wine is also something to admire. Classy and seductive with notes of citrus fruits, apples, yellow plums, white flowers and brioche. On the palate it is dry and lively with attractive savoury notes, a sophisticated, creamy texture and layered complexity, to which the 42 months of lees ageing have certainly contributed. No doubt there's a Champagne DNA running through this wine, thanks to the Taittinger link, as it displays real finesse and mouth-watering freshness.
