A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot, aged for 24 months in 56% new French oak, this is a wonderfully expressive Cabernet Sauvignon from the northwest block of the 1.5-hectare Family Home Vineyard in Oakville. A block selection of the vineyard’s best-producing fruit for the vintage delivers rich layering and full-bodied depth. Dark black fruit dominates, interwoven with savoury spices, including sage, spearmint, and toasted fennel. The super-suave tannins offer generosity and support, framing a long, juicy core lifted by bright, crisp acidity and red rock mineral tension. Remarkably fresh and lifted, this wine defies the challenges of the vintage, showcasing elegance and vibrancy. As of 2022, the portfolio has been simplified, with new labels highlighting estate-grown fruit under the Gamble family. The winery name has changed from Gamble Family Vineyards to Gamble Estates, reflecting the diversity of their vineyard sources. The C.C. Ranch Estate spans 47 hectares, planted south of Quintessa and leading down to the Honig Estate, all within the Rutherford AVA. As of 2022, the winemaking team is led by Jaime Medina for day-to-day operations, with Atelier Melka consulting.
