An impressive Merlot from New Jersey producer Auburn Road from New Jersey's Outer Coastal Plain AVA, which covers nearly half of the state. It's undeniably ripe but fresh, balanced and concentrated all the same. The aromas of tobacco and cigar box intertwine with notes of chocolate and cherries and wintergreen. Flavours of sappy, ripe blackberry are flanked by dark chocolate with mint, and smoky oak flavours are marked by Christmas spices, espresso bean and ember.
