This Syrah is surprisingly robust and aromatically very complex. The attack features a pronounced white pepper aroma, but there is also plenty of sweet blackberry fruit with accents of wood smoke and mineral that remind me of the wines of Seyssuel on the Rhône – a sort of less-ripe Côte-Rôtie. The texture is firm and impressively dense, with fine-grained tannins and a velvety finish. Polished and elegant.
