The new vintage of Syrah from Elements has an opaque purple colour and a vibrantly aromatic nose of blueberry, pomegranate, and nettle, with a good jolt of streaky bacon. In short, a very northern Rhone nose. The wine is firm and concentrated on the palate, with grippy, somewhat astringent tannins that one hopes will soften with time. Ambitious; best with a bit more age.
