The Finger Lakes is well known for Riesling, but Chardonnay really shone in the 2024 vintage, which brought one of the warmest autumns on record, resulting in generous fruit across the region. This round, full wine shows notes of blossom, grapefruit, green apple and buttered brioche, with a throughline of acidity. The juice was divided among four French oak barrels of varying neutrality for fermentation, then underwent partial malolactic fermentation, nine months of bi-weekly bâtonnage and bottle aging for another nine. Enjoy this white a little on the warmer side of chilled and allow the fruit to pop.
