This wine is produced from Wente clone fruit from the Chehalem Mountain Vineyard, vinified in the typical 'Black Chardonnay' method of consultant Pierre Milleman. The result is aged 23 months in a single 500 lit Damy cask. The effect is a ripe apple fruit with just a suggestion of honey and floral notes accented with smoke, spice, and minerals, and a texture that is creamy and dense but not heavy. There is plenty of acidity here, even in the warm conditions of 2018. Shockingly good.
