The Domaine de Pierres Syrah comes from the Ancient Stones Vineyard in the Rocks District on the Oregon side of the Walla Walla Valley. Planted in 2007, it was bisected by the East Little Walla Walla River. The site is planted to four different Syrah clones; winemaker Louis Skinner uses a 100% whole cluster on this wine, which shows an intense smoked bacon and meaty character. Big black fruits, herbs de Provence, and dried lavender are on the nose. The palate shows rounded blackberries, black olives, brine, and spicy, exotic deliciousness.
