Staggering in its beauty, the 2021 Brooks Hyland Vineyard is evocative of the great Riesling-producing regions of Germany. This is an impressive effort from the old vine Riesling block at Hyland that was planted in 1972. Smoky aromatics of grilled lemon peel and salty sea spray are given over to Braeburn apple skin and cardamom spice. The palate is vivid and lively. Flavours of lemon drops and fleshy white peach are chased by the laser-focused acidity, gripping minerality and the gorgeous balance of tart and sweet reminiscent of Sicilian orange marmalade—a magnificent wine.
