Sourced from vineyards west of Salem, Oregon, where the fruit is typically used for sparkling wine production, Michael Browne allows it to hang longer to achieve his desired expression. This wine showcases pure deep forest notes, underbrush, brown spices, and crushed stone, with crunchy black cherry fruit and subtle dark chocolate nuances. Medium-bodied with fantastic depth, it offers pure red berry flavours, warm spices, and long, grippy tannins that will resolve nicely within 2-3 years in the bottle. Start popping corks in 2024. The wine has excellent staying power, balanced tannins, a touch of grip, and juicy acidity, with a savoury umami character on the lengthy finish. Fermentation in 24% concrete and 76% stainless steel tanks followed by ageing for 16 months in 45% new French oak, 20% once-used French oak, and 35% several-times-used French oak. CHEV is a project from Kosta Browne co-founder Michael Browne and his wife, Sarah Browne. The label was introduced in 2013, after they established CIRQ, focusing on Pinot Noir from their stunning 6-hectare estate and winery in the heart of the Russian River Valley. In 2024, Cabell Coursey joined the team to further elevate their craft.
