This is comprised of Seven Hills and South Winds vineyards in the Walla Walla Valley. On the Oregon side, it brings Syrah to the Pinot Noir blend from the Jerusalem Hill site in the Eola-Amity Hills. 75% Syrah and 25% Pinot Noir. The Pommard clone here really lifts the ripe Syrah character. Dark violets and earth are then lended a note of blood orange from the Pinot, acting as Viognier might in a classic co-ferment. It does a great job as red and black brambles, savoury herbs and sea salt. Carl looks for aromatics from Pinot, less structure.
